There are general recommendations to help the client and the installer choose the right materials, equipment, and installation methods that will help ensure that the system will provide many years of reliable service. These recommendations can be used to evaluate pre-engineered system designs and compare system features from one supplier to another.

  • Evaluate workmanship.
  • Verify permit compliance.
  • Verify schedule conformance.
  • Perform or witness sub system testing.

SYSTEM TEST

Witness or review data set to:

  • Verify minimum period of continued operation.
  • Assess actual vs. predicted output.

FINAL COMPLETION

Verify the completion accuracy of all items to be declared listed on the Final Completion Notice, such as:

  • System ready for full, unattended commercial operation.
  • System passed inspections with AHJ.
  • Utility interconnection installation evaluation complete.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Complete or spot evaluation of array, tracker, inverter through the use of:

  • Spot voltage and current measurements.
  • IV curves.
  • As-installed array and system ratings.

Installing a PV System

  • Ensure the roof area or other installation site is capable of handling the desired system size.
  • If roof mounted, verify that the roof is capable of handling additional weight of PV system. Augment roof structure as necessary.
  • Properly seal any roof penetrations with roofing industry approved sealing methods.
  • Install equipment according to manufacturers specifications, using installation requirements and procedures from the manufacturers' specifications.
  • Properly ground the system parts to reduce the threat of shock hazards and induced surges.
